First day of clinics!

Tuesday, September 22, 2015
We had a team meeting this morning at breakfast to go over everybody’s job for today.  Then piled in the van’s and off we went!

This is the building we are using for the clinics.
The clinics are being held in the Office of the Director of Veterinary Health.  Part of the building is “finished” and part is not!  Many buildings here are built with concrete.  But the floor and walls are put up, then wiring must be an afterthought… because it looks like the paths for the wiring are chipped out of the wall then patched up again!  Lots of rough concrete in the back of the offices.  But we are indoors and it is not too hot, so it is actually pretty nice.  We do have running water (cold only) and a flush toilet, so it is not bad at all!

Oana is working at the reception desk.

There were pets scheduled throughout the day.  Over 35 cats were scheduled, very unusual.  We don’t usually do many cats.  Took a little while to get rolling as everybody got settled into their tasks, but the day went pretty well!

Instruments are cleaned then "cold sterilized" between each patient.

Ginny and Marion were surprised at how much work it actually was.  Ginny mainly did instrument care (cleaning and cold sterilization) and Marion helped with instruments and helped in recovery.

We did 56 animals today.  No big surprises or disasters.  Went pretty smoothly.  I think everyone enjoyed themselves.  We were all pretty pooped.  When we returned to the hotel it was almost 8:30.  So most folks got cleaned up, some hit the hay, some went out.  Marion, Jessica and I went out for a nice dinner and fun visiting.
I really need to finish this up and get to bed.  It is midnight already…
Noapte buna!  (Good night!)

Taking a well deserved lunch break!
