We are in Romania!

Saturday September 19, 2015.  Long flight “overnight” and arrived in Frankfurt Sat am.  The Frankfurt airport is MASSIVE!!  We seemed to walk for miles to get to the train to the proper terminal, then another long walk to get to the “gate”.  Had to go through security again, this time they confiscated the peanut butter!  Arrrggghhh!  Then a very long bus ride to get to the actual plane!  Once we arrived in Bucharest, we quickly found our group… then a three hour van ride to our hotel.

Most of the road from Bucharest to Galati (pronounced Gah-latz) is a two lane, but driven like a 4 lane!  Look closely at the photos!  Most of the regular traffic is on the shoulder, the rest is passing and crossing over the middle line!  But all done calmly, never felt unsafe.

Saw several horse and wagon vehicles.  The horses just travel in the traffic.

Finally arrived at our hotel.  Pretty plain, but has air conditioning (it is in the mid 80’s today) and really fast internet!  We had a wonderful dinner next door to the hotel.  The food prices are quite reasonable.  The tea that Nutmeg is sitting by is a peach tea (Linda, you would LOVE it!!) full of fresh fruit like a sangria!  The tea was very “peachy” and included thin sliced apple, strawberries, grapes, melon… and some fruit I did not recognize.  I will certainly have another one of those!

Part of our group: Jessica, Chantel, Linda, Ginny, Marion, Sue and Karen (trip leader extradinaire!)
Sue and I were in Ecuador together a few years ago!
Nutmeg hanging out with us.

This was the most amazing peach Iced tea.  The picture does not show all of the fruit, it was luscious!
Was pooped, but got excited writing the blog and downloading the pictures.  So I need to finish up and get my shower and head for bed!
Nutmeg is already asleep…

Until tomorrow!
